The AIRC has commenced work on a proposal to work with food industry and government partners to provide evidence-based policy recommendations on strengthening the innovation system that supports the agri-food industry in Australia. Proposed research partners include an ‘Industry Leaders' group to oversee the research program, Research Development Corporations from participating sectors, CSIRO and Commonwealth and State agencies. The research will include:
Foundation study to analyse the current innovation system
In-depth analyses of key factors and relationships based on the empirical findings of the foundation study
longitudinal studies to monitor system evolution and outcomes over five years.

Industry forums in Australia
Policy and program recommendations to participating partners
International symposium to discuss the findings and implications for further research
