A comparison of the performance of the Australian and Tasmanian manufacturing industry is being undertaken to identify high-impact sectors.  Where data on turnover, value added, employment, wages/salaries and so on is not available at the small sector level for Tasmania (ie 4 digit ANZSIC classification level) a higher level of aggregation will be used.  The centre is also working with the ABS to make more Tasmanian data available at the three and four digit ANZSIC industry level in the Manufacturing collection for the 2006-07 and future reference years.  

 This project has now been incorporated into the Tasmanian Innovation Strategy.
