Presentations 2010
  • 15 July 2010.  Professor Jonathan West was a keynote speaker at the Tasmanian Farmers and Graziers Association's Biennial Conference, Tasmania as the Country's Foodbowl: Fact or Pipedream?  Professor West's presentation was titled "Food and Tasmania's Economic Development". 

  • 21-23 June 2010.  Research Associate Julia Crozier presented a paper titled "How do iconic heritage tourist attractions remain relevant to their audience?" at the CIT 2010 International Congress on Tourism, Heritage & Innovation Conference in Porto, Portugal. 

  • 21 June 2010.  Professor Jonathan West spoke at Skills Tasmania's 2010 Skills Tasmania Conference, held at the Wrest Point Conference Centre.  His presentation was titled "Innovation and Workforce Planning".

  • 26-27 April 2010.  Professor Anthony Arundel gave a presentation on "Spillovers from user innovation in Canadian manufacturing" to the annual Socio-economic Conference 2010 sponsored by the Canadian Government in Ottawa, Canada.

  • In April 2010 Dr Colin Jones facilitated three half-day workshops in response to issues arising from the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and the Arts' "Pulse Check" survey of departmental employees.

  • 15 April 2010.  Professor David Adams conducted a presentation "The Economics of Social Inclusion" for The Economic Society of Australia - Tasmania Branch, at the Department of Treasury and Finance

  • 24 March 2010.  The AIRC hosted a presentation by Professor Morgan Miles from Georgia Southern University.  Professor Miles provided an overview of his research activities to colleagues from the UTAS School of Management and AIRC staff.

  • March 2010.  Doug Fraser delivered a paper titled "Deskilling Revisited: New evidence on the skills trajectory of the Australian economy, 2001-2007" to the International Labour Process Conference at Rutgers University, New Jersey, USA.

  • 4-5 March 2010.  Professor Anthony Arundel was invited by the National Institute of Science and Technology Policy of Japan (NISTEP) to give three presentations at the NISTEP International Conference 2010 New Challenges and Opportunities for Science, Technology and Innovation Policies in the Post-Crisis Regime held in Tokyo, Japan.  Two brief presentations on day one covered the topics "Innovation Policy in the Post Crisis Era" and "The Role of an Evidence-based Approach in Post-crisis innovation policy".  An academic presentation on the second day covered "The neglected innovators - non-R&D performers: What do they do and does it matter?"

  • 9-11 February 2010. Research Associate Julia Crozier presented a paper titled "Innovation in Heritage Tourism. A contradiction in terms?" at the CAUTHE (Council of Australian Universities Tourism and Hospitality Educators) Conference, held at the Grand Chancellor Hotel in Hobart.

  • 21-22 January 2010. Eric Iversen co-authored a presentation with Professor Diane Nicol (Facutly of Law) on "Patenting and Patent-Based Cooperation in the Australian Biotechnology Industry", for The Pacific Rim Innovation Conference 2010, held at the University of Melbourne.

  • Dr Doug Fraser has had a paper accepted for the International Labour Process Conference, to be held at Rutgers University in March 2010.

  • Dr Colin Jones has been invited to speak at the Copenhagen Business School early in 2010.
