  • 3 December 2009. Nasser Refaei made a presentation to the Department of Planning and Infrastructure on the results of his PhD research on industry perspectives regarding the Tasmanian freight task.  He has been invited to make another presentation to department heads in the new year. 

  •  25-25 November 2009. Arundel A, Sawaya D. GM and Sustainable Agriculture: Opportunities and Challenges, Conference on "GMOs in European Agriculture and Food Production" , Dutch Ministry of Agriculture, The Hague, November 25-26, 2009.

  • 19 November 2009. Dr Doug Fraser presented a seminar to staff of the School of Management at ADFA.  The topic of the seminar was De-skilling in Australia: how much do can we tell, and what might it mean?

  • 12-13 November 2009. Associate Professor Jack English facilitated two workshops at the Small Business Expo, held at Wrest Point. The theme of the workshops was Finding New Business Opportunities.

  • October 2009. Martinson G, H Lööf, EJ Iversen (2009). "Impact of economic crises on patenting activity: lessons from the economic downturn after the IT-bubble". Presented at the Patent Statistics for Decision-Makers Conference (EPO/OECD). October 2009, Vienna.

  • 10 September 2009. Associate Professor Jack English and Kieran O'Brien made a presentation to the CSIRO Research Investment Advisory Committee on "Industry research collaboration and highly innovative firms: results from the Tasmanian Innovation Census". 

  • 10 August 2009. Professor Jonathan West, Anthony Arundel, Carol Harding and Rod Stolorz attended the Joseph Aloysius Lyons Annual Lecture, presented by the TCCI.  This year's speaker was Professor Larry Smarr, who is recognised as one of the founding fathers of the internet, and continues as one of the most respected voices on computer technology and the digital economy.  After the lecture, Professor West led a discussion with Professor Smarr on the subject.

  • 5 August 2009. Professor Jonathan West chaired Day Two of the "Developing the Knowledge Economy" Conference at the University of Melbourne.

  • 30 July 2009. Kieran O'Brien delivered a presentation to the Department of Economic Development and Tourism titled "Structure, business demographics and innovation in the Tasmanian ICT sector".

  • 23 July 2009. Colin Jones presented Stage 2 of ROCU's UTAS Business Competition - the Business Feasibility Planning Workshop.

  • 7 July 2009. Kieran O'Brien delivered a presentation "New Innovation Metrics and Structure, Business Demographics and Innovation in Tasmanian Manufacturing" to the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and the Arts.

  • 2-4 July 2009. Eric Iverson presented a paper at the European Group of Organisational Studies Conference in Spain: Tee, R. & Iverson, E. (2009), "Organisational design and the changing role of standardization: a study of the Symbian alliance", Presented at the European Group of Organizational Studies (EGOS) Conference, EGOS, 2009, ESADE Business School, Barcelona. 

  • 2 July 2009. Honorary Fellow Anthony Arundel delivered a presentation, "New Innovation Metrics for Australia", to the Australian Bureau of Statistics Tasmanian Office Statistical Seminar Series.

  • 19 June 2009. Anthony Arundel and Kieran O'Brien presented key results of the "New Innovation Metrics for Australia" study to the project steering committee in Canberra.

  • 17-19 June 2009.  A joint paper by Dr Susan Nelle, Christine Pitt and Jan Paul Van Moort entitled "Applying a sectoral system of innovation (SSI) framework to determining future capability requirements for research, development and extension", was presented at the Triple Helix VII Conference in Glasgow, Scotland. 

  • 1 May 2009. Professor Jonathan West spoke at the Community Jobs Summit in Melbourne, hosted by the Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, and Deputy Prime Minister Julia Gillard. The aim of the Summit was to explore strategies for maximising the economic and social impact of the Australian Government's Community Jobs Fund.

  • 24 April 2009: TheAIRC's Professor Ian Marsh gave a presentation at the University of Tasmania's School of Management titled "The Tasmanian Innovation Strategy".  

  • 22 April 2009: Kieran O'Brien gave a presentation to the Business/Higher Education Round Table ICT Summit in Melbourne titled "The Tasmanian Innovation Census: Initial results and ICT sector innovation in Tasmania".

  • 30 March 2009. Professor David Adams gave a presentation at the University of Tasmania's School of Management Seminar Series titled "Policy Oriented Research - what it is, how to do it".

  • 2 March 2009. AIRC Honorary Fellow Anthony Arundel was invited to speak at the Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research in Canberra.  He presented  "The neglected innovators: What do innovators that do not perform R&D do? Results of a survey of 4,395 European firms".

  • 24 February 2009. Kieran O'Brien presented the results of the Tasmanian Innovation Census at the North West Region Industry Luncheon forum, organised by the Department of Economic Development and Tourism.

  • 20 February 2009. AIRC Honorary Fellow Anthony Arundel gave the first presentation of the AIRC's2009 Seminar Series, at the AIRC offices. The presentation was titled "The neglected innovators: What do innovators that do not perform R&D do? Results of a survey of 4.395 European firms". 

  • 10 February 2009. Professor Jonathan West spoke to the Department of Economic Development and Toursim Strategy Day, on the Tasmanian Innovation Strategy. Departmental Senior Management and stakeholders attended.

  • 9 February 2009. Professor Keith Smith participated as an invited expert in the presentation of results from the first Indian Innovation Survey, at the National Statistical Office, New Dehli, India.

  • 22-23 January 2009. Professor Keith Smith presented a paper, "Education provision from an innovation policy perspective", to the European Working Group on Education and Economic Growth, University of Geneva, Switzerland.

  • 8-9 January 2009. Professor Keith Smith presented a paper, "Towards a theory of resource-based economic development" to a Workshop on Innovation and Growth in Resource-Based Economies, at the Research Council of Norway, Oslo Norway.
